Masham Sheep Fair!

This was a really good event again. There are other stalls in the Town Hall apart from just woolly people which I think makes it better as people tend to linger a bit and kids have something to look at.
On health matters - I have now got an appointment to go and try and find out the cause of the face swelling and rashes however I am expected not to take any medication for 72 hours prior - well at the moment I am managing about 36 hours before I start to go red or my lips start to swell. I am dreading it. I have managed to get an early Monday morning appointment - that should clear the roads into Salford when other drivers spot my red/swollen face!

New Sock yarns

Well the results from the hospital have come back OK - not the big C as I feared but I still don't actually know what the shadow on my pancreas is!
The good news seems to have renewedmy enthusiasm and as this week I received the first small samples of some new sock yarns and have even managed to get them dyed but as yet not photographed. I will have them with me at Masham this weekend along with the remnants of the sale yarns from the studio. Quite a lot of it has already sold but I wouldlike to get it down to just part of a rack then I can start to add in the new yarns plus more as they arrive.
It that time of year again when the post contains application forms etc for next year and I have to decide which shows worked for me and which didn't. Although I was very disappointed about Woolfest this year I was actually glad to have a year off (I was still there but working for Tom and Bev) I think it gives you chance to look at what you and others are doing. I did enjoy the part of not having to worry about sorting everything out - it was all done for me!
I am hopefully taking the Knit'n'Natter group back to Colinette yarns on the 1st October. I have nearly finished one jacket - Janis at work is having it for her birthday and Carol D has asked for one but in brighter colours so I need to get the yarn for that. More to add to the stash!

Back from Norfolk

So that was it - a week away in Norfolk - the name of the place we stayed in was very Dutch sounding.  There wasn't a shop or pub in sight!!  I managed to get the Sirdar waistcoat finished - its in the new yarn Babouska and Persia and is now on display at the studio.  I also worked on some socks for Dad and started a Colinete jacket.

I spent the last day collecting Sloe berries (they are actually a wild damson plum!) and have spent several hours today making Sloe gin and Sloe vodka which hopefully should be ready for Christmas.  I also picked loads of balckberries - we will be eating the things for weeks as I have had to freeze most of them!

I now have 2 days to go before I visit the hospital again and hopefully this time the consultant should have at least seen the results of the scan and should be able to tell me whats happening inside my body!  There have been numerous calls from the hospital whilst we were away so I just hope that it is not to cancel the appointment.

The studio has been fairly quiet whilst I have been awaybut hopefully things will pick up again in the next few weeks.

I am at Masham Sheep Fair at the end of September then at Ally Pally with Tom and Bev at the beginning of October - they are hoping to have several exciting things going on - one being an even bigger stand!

MIDSUMMER MADNESS!

Had a lovely day yesterday - went to a small trade show in Harrogate with Bev from www.Knitting4Fun.co.uk. The weather was really good and we went intoValley Gardensin the centre.
Anyway I have ordered some new undyed yarns so I am having a clearout of of the hand dyed yarns and fibres that are in stock at the moment - everything is reduced to £5.00 - when its gone its gone!!

Googling it sometimes doesn't help!

So, they have done the blood tests, done an Ultrasound scan and a CT Scan and then tell me its not gallstones (good) however there is a shadow somewhere on my pancreas that they aren't happy about (not good) .
It could be a virus, just inflammed or it could be a tumour so am being fast tracked to see a specialist in the next few weeks. Had a quick look on google and frightened myself silly! So now I am going to get the drumcarder out and play with that for the morning.

FIBRE-EAST 2011

What an absolutely amazing event! The only thing I could fault was the SatNaV getting us lost.
The weather was just right, the atmosphere was totally woolly, the visitors were so into wool and both the workshops I ran went down well!
Will I go again next year? too right!
Thanks and big hugs to everyone who played any part in it!

Fibre-East 2011

I thought I had got myself all sorted for this event - all the handouts printed, yarn and fibre labeled and priced then I decided to order some extra fibre so I am now trying to get it dyed etc and the weather has turned to heavy rain and is cold.
It will get done!

It all went so fast!!!

Can I just say a quick thank you to everyone who has either contributed to this round or bought a bag. There are only 8 yarn bags left up for grabs.
This round we have had lots of new names and the bags have gone all over the country but also to Germany,France, Italy, Denmark and the Netherlands - a sure way of getting your yarns and fibres out there without have to even really try!
Fibreholics is always looking for new contributors so if you feel that it might fit in with your plans then please get in touch!

Afternoon off

Decided last minute that as 2 of the Monday Knit'n'knatter ladies had cried off that I would take the afternoon off and went out with the husband to Castleton. Beautiful scenery and lovely ice-cream. Also dropped into 'The Real Fudge Company' which is run by Peter and Monica who I met years ago at an event in Buxton. Their fudge is the best going and is made using the best ingredients they can, its one downfall is that once you have tried it you need more and all that sugar is not really good for the hips!!
